My Review:

I absolutely adored Everneath, from the beautiful cover to the bittersweet last page I loved every second of this amazing novel. The first page captivated me, drawing me in to a story that was unlike anything that I had ever read. Lovable characters, a fascinating plot, and a heart wrenching romance made Everneath one of the best books I have read in a long time.

The mysterious and chilling beginning leads into one of the most unique and original storylines I've ever read. Despite drawing heavily upon Greek myths Ashton creates an intriguing and completely original plot. The story is told from two of Nikki's perspectives, before she disappeared and after she disappeared. This leaves the reader to piece together Nikki's story and discover clues as to why Nikki survived the feed when so many others didn't.

Nikki starts off broken and lost, slowly gaining hope and confidence through Jack, the one person who kept her going through the dark times in the Everneath. Meanwhile Cole is following Nikki around, begging her to come back to the Everneath with him so she can become a queen. Both Jack and Cole are wonderfully developed characters, complete opposites fighting for Nikki's life.

The ending is heartbreaking and bittersweet, the perfect conclusion to a heart wrenching story. Everneath is a story of love, fear, suffering, and hope; the hope of redemption. I would recommend Everneath to anyone and everyone, this novel is young adult literature at its finest.

5/5
