Synopsis: Being connected to Daemon Black sucks…

Thanks to his alien mojo, Daemon’s determined to prove what he feels for me is more than a product of our bizarro connection. So I’ve sworn him off, even though he’s running more hot than cold these days. But we’ve got bigger problems.

Something worse than the Arum has come to town…

The Department of Defense are here. If they ever find out what Daemon can do and that we're linked, I’m a goner. So is he. And there's this new boy in school who’s got a secret of his own. He knows what’s happened to me and he can help, but to do so, I have to lie to Daemon and stay away from him. Like that's possible. Against all common sense, I'm falling for Daemon. Hard.

But then everything changes…

I’ve seen someone who shouldn’t be alive. And I have to tell Daemon, even though I know he’s never going to stop searching until he gets the truth. What happened to his brother? Who betrayed him? And what does the DOD want from them—from me?

No one is who they seem. And not everyone will survive the lies…
My Review:

I NEVER expected to love these books as much as I did! Onyx was an absolutely fabulous sequel to Obsidian, full of action and romance once I got into the story it pulled me in and refused to let me go. Paired with a beautiful cover this novel went above and beyond my expectations for this series and made me eager to get my hands on anything and everything ever written by Armentrout!

Overall I think I liked this novel more than the first, Daemon was less of a douche and the novel overall had a stronger plot. Onyx was a much more serious, and way less cheesey, novel than Obsidian and that really worked well for the story. Even though the plot line was more intense there were plenty of moments of light hearted silliness that made me smile.

I love Katy as a main character; full of sass her interactions with Daemon, and her spunky personality are always a joy to read about. The romance was absolutely fantastic, full of steamy scenes and heart thumping lines I pretty much swooned every time Daemon was around. Daemon is the ultimate bad boy with a horrible attitude but in the end I just can't help but love him and his dedication to Katy.

There were some moments where Katy was a little dense and when the arguments between Katy and Daemon were a little over the top but Onyx truly was a fantastic novel. With an ending I never saw coming, the DOD around every corner, secrets and betrayal, as well as the perfect sprinkling of romance to keep me swooning this novel delivered it all and then some.

An all-around FANTASTIC series I would definitely recommend this novel to fans of YA romance and paranormal. Even if aliens, or YA for that matter, aren't your thing this book will undoubtedly change your mind!

5/5
