Synopsis: No one is like Daemon Black.

When he set out to prove his feelings for me, he wasn't fooling around. Doubting him isn't something I’ll do again, and now that we've made it through the rough patches, well... There’s a lot of spontaneous combustion going on.

But even he can’t protect his family from the danger of trying to free those they love.

After everything, I’m no longer the same Katy. I’m different... And I’m not sure what that will mean in the end. When each step we take in discovering the truth puts us in the path of the secret organization responsible for torturing and testing hybrids, the more I realize there is no end to what I’m capable of. The death of someone close still lingers, help comes from the most unlikely source, and friends will become the deadliest of enemies, but we won’t turn back. Even if the outcome will shatter our worlds forever.

Together we’re stronger... and they know it.

My Review:

I can't help but love this series more and more with each book! With a beautiful romance, lovable characters, and a fascinating plot that is escalating quickly these books are nothing short of addicting!

Opal definitely had the strongest plot of any of the Lux books so far. With a clear plot and so much action and romance I wondered how Katy even slept I couldn't put this book down until I read almost the whole thing in one sitting! I really enjoyed the larger role of the DOD in this novel, with turns I never saw coming and the characters taking roads I never expected I was completely enthralled by this novel.

The romance between Katy and Daemon really took off in this novel. Now that there's no more conflict between them every interaction was filled with steamy undertones and sexual tension. Daemon's attitude took a bit of a turn in this novel, instead of being a jerk just for the sake of being one he was a jerk to Katy because he thought it would protect her. While the bad boy Daemon we all know and love was still there his personality definitely took a turn toward trying to take care of Katy instead of being flat out rude to her.

I was NOT ready for the ending of this novel! The ending left me searching for the missing pages then frantically looking up the release date of the next novel. One of the worst cliff hangers I've ever been faced with the ending was heart pounding and dramatic, only to suddenly end, leaving me desperate for the next novel!

Despite the horrible, yet fantastic, cliff hanger I absolutely adored this novel! Armentrout is truly a talented writer, having the ability to draw me in and keep me enthralled until the last page. One of the best series I've read so far in 2013 I'm looking forward to more!

5/5

  3. That last moment was horrific. I read it last week and I still have a knot in my stomach when I think of what they said to each other just before it ended...Roll on Origin. The duel POV's are going to be really interesting, Daemon is going to torture himself.
